Barrier-Free
Barrier-Free is a non-profit, disability service organization that provides inclusive art, self-advocacy, and social programming to the community for adults with disabilities across Carroll County.
Barrier-Free offers two inclusive theater companies where neurodiverse adults ages 18+ come together to create original full-production musicals. Additional offerings include expressive arts classes covering a variety of themes including improvisational acting, dance, and more!
At Barrier-Free's Life Skills & Social Studio in Downtown Sykesville, programs support the development of life skills and social skills for neurodiverse adults through an integrated-arts model with a focus on interpersonal interaction, authentic practice, and group collaboration.

Byrdcall Studio, LLC
Actively reviving the centuries old art of Nordic rya rug making, Byrdcall Studio, LLC offers quality traditional supplies from Norway, Finland, and vintage USA spun rya yarn. Melinda Purcell Byrd published RYA RUGS--Design and Make Your Own in 2020. The 298-page book teaches history, knotting techniques, color blending and designing. Rya rug making has been compared to "painting with a needle" where the blended wool strands create unlimited potential for color.
She lectures, demonstrates, and teaches classes suitable for beginners and advanced artists. Byrdcall Studio, LLC is located at her home in Woodbine, Maryland as is open by appointment. The Studio holds occasional "Rya Sewing Circles" and Open Studio Days for drop-in visitors.
In addition to being the go-to person in the USA for off-loom rya rug making, Melinda is accomplished as a printmaker and visual artist. Her studio is full of multifaceted art including hand-printed shirts, frameable woodcut and linocut originals, weavings, collage, and nature sketches.

Carroll County Cloggers
A nonprofit club that promotes the dance form of clogging through education and participatory activities. Available for performances throughout the year. Classes for beginners are offered annually starting in October.
Carroll County Dance Center
Carroll County's premier dance school and ballet conservatory. Young children, teens, and adult students can participate in year-round programs designed for dancers at all levels, including an intensive pre-professional dance curriculum.
Carroll County Farm Museum
This 140-acre museum features life on the farm in the late 1800s with period artifacts and antiques. The grounds include original farm structures, such as the Farmhouse and a bank barn, as well as a Smokehouse, Broom Shop, Saddlery, Springhouse, Living History Center, Wagon Shed, General Store exhibit, and a One-room Schoolhouse.Traditional arts classes are offered throughout the year, including folk art painting, basket making, blacksmithing, broom making, chair caning/seat weaving, quilting.
Carroll County Genealogical Society, Inc.
CCGS offers resources and experience for our members and community to conduct their research examining family history and provide a place where people can come together to share and aide others in research. CCGS offers programs, speakers and special projects which encourage community participation and sharing. Meets at the Westminster Branch Library.
Carroll County History Project
The Carroll County History Project is an ongoing effort dedicated to preserving the history of the county and the memories of its residents. Includes documentaries about the county and individual towns and a permanent, web-accessible archive of personal memories from residents who grew up here.
