A holiday wonderland of creativity and generosity! This event features over 130 unique theme wreaths that range from whimsical to wacky to wonderful! The wreaths are sold through a silent auction that benefits the Arts Council. Now in its 23rd year, the Festival of Wreaths at the Carroll Arts Center has traditionally been one of the most eagerly awaited holiday events in the County. The Arts Council will still hold an in-person display at the Arts Center, but all the bidding is moving online! Visitors will be able to view and bid on the wreaths from their smartphone or computer using Handbid, a silent auction platform, whether they are attending in-person or viewing at home. Visitors to the in-person display are encouraged to download the mobile Handbid app on their smartphone before attending to ease the bidding process. Volunteers will be available at the Arts Center to help those without smartphones make their bids.
The Festival exemplifies holiday generosity in many ways, through the valuable wreaths that are contributed, as well as the generous bids from the community. In the past, wreaths have been adorned with a wide range of items and decorations including semi-precious gems, $50 bills, sock monkeys, computer mice, thumb tacks, eyeglasses, duct tape, Legos®, flip flops, painted crab shells, used auto parts, origami, wine corks, autographed sports memorabilia, duct tape, and even toilet paper rolls! Many also come with special items like gift cards, specialty food and beverages, and unique experiences!
Wreath bidding opens on Friday, November 27 at 10am and ends promptly at 4 pm on Sunday, December 6. High bidders need not be present at auction close, but will be required to pick up the item(s) they won from the Arts Center. The public is invited to vote for their favorites via Facebook throughout the event and awards will be announced in December.
