Native American Heritage Day

Join the Arts Council for our first celebration of Native American Heritage Day! Observed the day after Thanksgiving, Native American Heritage Day honors the history, culture, and contributions from indigenous communities in the United States. The CCAC is proud to present a day of educational and entertaining events that highlight Native American culture and spread awareness of the issues facing their communities today.

Event Schedule:

1pm – The Importance and Limits of Land Acknowledgements (Lecture) | FREE
MD State Arts Council Folklife Specialist, Ryan Koons, presents an overview of the MSAC’s Land Acknowledgement Project.

1:30pmWhere the Waters Blend (Documentary Short) | FREE
This short film documents the journey of a young, two-spirit woman from estrangement with her tribe and family to reconciliation and embracing her future role as a leader. Filmmakers Susanne Coates and Emily Wathen will introduce the film and participate in a post-screening Q&A discussion. Learn More.

7:30pm – Piscataway Nation Singers & Dancers | $27 – $30
