The Illustrated Human showcases the creative talent of tattoo artists beyond the canvas of skin and the diverse dialogues therein. Tattoo artists working in distinctive styles from across the U.S. are featured, with a specific focus on regional artists.

The exhibition title references Ray Bradbury’s famous short story collection, The Illustrated Man, wherein the narrator encounters a man with moving, magical tattoos that tell various fantastic tales. Postcard/header featuring artwork by Dan Bones.
