The McDaniel College Department of Music will present a performance by its Student African Drum Ensembles on Thursday, November 30 at 7pm. The concert, directed by Pape Demba “Paco” Samb will take place in the Naganna Forum in the Roj Student Center on McDaniel’s campus.
McDaniel music department faculty member Pape Demba “Paco” Samb, a “Senegalese Griot,” or West African historian, storyteller, singer, poet, dancer, and/or musician, teaches the classes. Samb grew up in Senegal, learning to play the drums, and came to the U.S. in 2013. Samb originally came to the U.S. to perform with his band and once he arrived here, he decided to stay.
