Each film: $10 Adults/$8 for ages 60+ and under 25
$35 Adults & $26.75  Ages 60+

Every February, the Film Lovers in Carroll County (FLICC) select four international films that broaden our view of cinema.

Our 2026 films immerse audiences in new cultures and stories, from the intrigue of “Anatomy of a Fall” to the Parisian comedy “The Crime is Mine“, to the tought-provoking “The Monk and the Gun” and finally the political and personal turmoil experienced by an Iranian family, “The Seed of the Sacred Fig“.

The film “Anatomy of a Fall” follows the life of Sandra Voyter, a novelist whose husband, Samuel Maleski, is found dead in their chalet in the French Alps. The film delves into themes of forensic psychiatry, including determination of manner of death and the role of expert witnesses in the legal system.

A 2023 French crime comedy set in 1935 Paris, the film follows Madeleine Verdier, a struggling and talentless actress who navigates the complexities of a media frenzy and a corrupt justice system leading to comedic and dramatic twists.

“The Monk and the Gun”

A 2024 film set in Bhutan during its first democratic election, exploring themes of tradition, modernization, and the complexities of political change amidst this backdrop, an old lama instructs a young monk named Tashi to procure firearms, a task that seems odd yet significant given the political upheaval on the horizon.

A political drama that follows Iman, a judge in Tehran, as he navigates his responsibilities and becomes paranoid when his service pistol goes missing, leading him to suspect his wife and daughters against the backdrop of intensified political climate and personal tensions within the family.
