Classes & Workshops

The Arts Council offers classes and workshops for adults of all ages, interests and abilities, that will stretch your imagination and inspire creativity. We pride ourselves in having talented and enthusiastic teachers who set a nurturing and creative atmosphere. Some classes are sponsored by the Arts Council, others are offered by independent teachers and organizations.

ADULT CLASS SERIES: Painting the Landscape in Oil or Acrylic

Saturday, February 28 @ 2:00 pm - Saturday, March 14 @ 4:30 am

Join artist and instructor Eric Westbrook in developing and improving your landscape painting skills. Instructor will be demonstrating with oil paint, but students are welcome to use acrylics if they prefer.

Bring your own or utilize Arts Council supplies of acrylic paint, brushes and mixed media paper, included in the cost of the class.

Both standing and table easels available.

Classes will be February 28th, March 7th, & March 14th from 2:00-4:30PM and can be taken as a series or for just one session.

ADULT CLASS: The Value of Value in Pastel Painting

Saturday, March 21 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Through guided exercises, you’ll learn to see value more clearly, strengthen your compositions, and make your colors sing with greater impact. Perfect for artists who want to sharpen their eye and elevate their pastel work.

ADULT WORKSHOP: Drum For Joy!™

Saturday, March 21 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Participants will learn the language of the drum, explore simple drum songs, and experience the joy of making music together.

A presentation on the history of this unique Baltimore Folk Art.

ADULT WORKSHOP: The Art of Zentangle®

Discover the Zentangle® Method—an easy-to-learn, meditative, and joyful way to create beautiful art through simple, structured patterns. In this relaxing class, you’ll learn how simple lines and patterns can flow together to create stunning art.

ADULT WORKSHOP: Ferns, Fungi and the Forest Floor

Saturday, June 20 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

This workshop will incorporate both wet felting and dry needle felting to create various mushrooms and ferns, small flowers and other debris found on a forest floor.Several different types of mushrooms call for different methods. Students will learn how to use a resist to create a conical mushroom cap as well as flat wet-felting and shaping. Students will learn how to create ferns using wire and wool and heat and bond product.

ADULT WORKSHOP: From Blob to Frog

Saturday, July 18 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Make a frog! From a simple blob of clay to cute little finished froggy, explore how creating simple shapes and adding them together can make a unique and complex sculpt that is fun and easy to teach to your friends! Students will sculpt, cook, sand, and paint their work.

Cancellations & Refunds

If CCAC cancels a class due to insufficient enrollment, a full refund will be given. For cancellations made by the student, a refund may be granted minus a processing fee. Cancellations must be requested at least 14 days prior to the start of class. If a cancellation is requested after that, a refund may be granted at the discretion of CCAC staff. No refunds are given for missed classes or early withdrawal. If a class is cancelled due to weather, parents will be contacted by email and/or phone and a make-up class will be scheduled by the instructor.

The CCAC has full discretion over registrations.
