SUMMARY:ART EXHIBITION: Threads of History\, Fiber Arts & the Maryland Story
DESCRIPTION:Art Exhibition: Threads of History\, Fiber Arts and the Maryland Story\nExhibition runs April 21 – July 3 \nFree & Open to the Public \nThe Carroll County Arts Council\, in partnership with the Historical Society of Carroll County\, celebrates Maryland’s 250th anniversary with a special exhibition: Threads of History: Fiber Arts and the Maryland Story. This special exhibition features works by 15 artists and the collection of the Historical Society of Carroll County range from the earliest handwoven textiles to contemporary fiber creations. These works highlight the rich tapestry of our shared Maryland history and tell the story of how diverse cultures have used fabric\, thread\, and design to preserve traditions and to strengthen communities across Maryland. \n The exhibition opens April 21\, 2026 and runs through July 5\, 2026 and is free and open to the public\, as is the opening reception to be held on May 21\, 2026 from 5-7pm at the Carroll Arts Center. \nCelebrating the artistry and cultural significance of fiber arts\, the exhibition features works by 15 artists\, and includes quilts\, weaving\, embroidery\, lacemaking\, beadwork\, and other fiber techniques\, that showcase the artistry and ingenuity of makers from Maryland’s many cultural backgrounds — African American\, Indigenous\, European\, Asian\, while recognizing the impact on Maryland’s social and economic life over the past two and a half centuries. \nCarroll County Arts Council Executive Director\, Stephen Strosnider\, explains\, “Visitors to the exhibition contribute to a broader conversation about how textile traditions continue to influence and shape modern artistic expression and foster unity in our community. These beautiful fiber arts pieces invite viewers to see beautiful works of craft as vital historical documents — woven\, stitched\, and passed down through generations. We hope you will join us.”

SUMMARY:Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical\, Jr.
DESCRIPTION:Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical\, Jr. \nJoin our talented cast of Elementary Students as they present:  Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical JR.\n\nPerformances: May 15 –  7:00pm & May 16 – 3:00pm & 7:00pm \nThe children are rising up. Join the revolt in this Broadway Junior adaptation of the Tony Award-winning hit! \nRebellion is nigh in Matilda JR.\, a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the “revolting children” who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson. \nMatilda has astonishing wit\, intelligence… and special powers! She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher\, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing\, however – the school’s mean headmistress\, Miss Trunchbull\, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts\, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace! \nPacked with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs\, Matilda JR. is a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination. \nTICKETS

SUMMARY:Fine Tuned Presents: Nordista Freeze's 50 States in 30 Days (ft Jeff Draco)
DESCRIPTION:Help us set a world record! \n50 Concerts. 50 States. 30 days. \nIt’s never been done. It might not be done. By the time Nordista Freeze gets to us\, state #43\, he may be a walking pile of bones. I guess we’re all basically that too. Anyway. \nFine Tuned Presents:\nNordista Freeze with Jeff Draco (solo!)\nWednesday\, May 27th\nMATINEE SHOW! 3:00 PM doors\, 3:30 PM start time! Done by 4:30! \nat the Community Media Center\n1301 Washington Rd\, Westminster\, MD 21157\n$20 advance\, $25 day of performance. \nFeaturing a new solo set of unreleased originals by Jeff Draco. \nAbout Nordista Freeze:\nThe term “road warrior” was made for Nordista Freeze. In fact\, the Nashville psych-pop artist is such a prolific performer that\, as of the beginning of May 2021\, he boasted 516 live shows since 2016 — a rate of one every three nights for almost five years. So it’s fitting that on his latest full-length\, Big Sky Pipe Dream\, Freeze comes as close as he ever has to capturing his live sound on tape — literally. \nThe new album is also a departure from the sound on Freeze’s previous outing\, Cosmic Haus. A sonic love letter to the warmth of 60s pop — and especially 1966’s Beach Boys opus Pet Sounds — Big Sky Pipe Dream finds Freeze shedding some of the “outer space” sounds from Haus that led Nashville Scene to label him the “cosmic Tom Petty.” These are traded in favor of sun-drenched harmonies and perfect pop nuggets of tracks like “First Time\,” a song NPR called “an unseasonably pleasant spring Saturday in song form.” \nAside from the infectious songs that comprise Big Sky Pipe Dream\, Freeze’s insistence on being an active participant of the Nashville music community is another factor that continues to generate goodwill among his peers. From his recent victory as champion of Lightning 100’s coveted Music City Mayhem contest to collaborations and associations with major label artists like Arlie\, Briston Maroney\, and The Voice winner Chloe MK\, Freeze likens himself to Harry Nillson\, another musical hero of his that was known for his tenacious work ethic. \nBeyond his own performances\, Freeze plays an instrumental role in booking events that have become part of recent Nashville indie lore. From Space Prom (an event that boasts Freeze as a headliner with very special guests complete with with groovy ambiance) to FreezeFest (another local festival that often features frequent tourmates and fellow Nashville indie rock band Future Crib)\, Freeze considers himself to be an ambassador of the scene\, showcasing other local talent as well as curating a righteously good time for both bands and audiences alike. \nThis approach to organizing events in the service of others is consistent with Freeze’s philosophy that the output and fan engagement and goodwill should not be expected without hardwork and dedication. “If I were asked to give a TED Talk\, it would be about how to build an audience from the ground up\,” Freeze says. “My whole perspective is that you can grow a fanbase from playing almost anywhere — whether that be a house show or an empty gas station. It all matters.” \nThis past year was hard on Nordista Freeze; how could it not have been\, for a guy who feels a near-spiritual call to the road and the stage? Listening to Big Sky Pipe Dream\, it’s apparent what a pleasure and a refuge these live recording sessions in the studio were for Freeze and his band. And\, as the world opens back up again\, finally\, this record is the perfect soundtrack as we all feel the joy of being back out in it again. \nTICKETS
