Far From Ordinary. – Off Track Art Gallery & Gifts: Where Local Artists and Original Creativity Come Together\n\n\nTucked just steps from the Maryland Midland Railway in the heart of downtown Westminster\, Off Track Art is a cooperative gallery where creativity\, craftsmanship\, and community come together. \nFounded in 2009 by a group of adventurous local artists\, the gallery was built on a simple idea: create a place where artists could support one another while sharing original\, handmade work with the community. More than sixteen years later\, that vision continues through a vibrant collective of artists who create\, exhibit\, and welcome visitors from throughout Carroll County and beyond. \nEvery piece you’ll find at Off Track Art is original and handmade. From paintings\, pottery\, jewelry\, photography\, stained glass\, fiber art\, scarves\, quilting\, collage\, handmade cards\, and more\, each work is created by one of our gallery partners or carefully selected local and regional consignment artists. Because our artists are continually creating and our exhibitions regularly change\, every visit offers something new to discover. \nBeyond the gallery walls\, Off Track Art is proud to support the local arts community. We host rotating monthly exhibitions featuring solo and group artists\, collaborate on educational workshops\, and serve as the hub for the annual Carroll County Artists’ Studio Tour each December. Whether you’re looking to add original artwork to your home\, find a one-of-a-kind gift\, or simply explore the work of talented local artists\, you’ll always find something unexpected waiting inside. \nStop in\, browse at your own pace\, meet the artists\, and discover why Off Track Art has become one of Westminster’s most unique creative destinations. \n\nOFF TRACK ART WEBSITE

SUMMARY:Pastel Landscape Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Pastel Landscape Workshop – Beach PathwaysCreate a beautiful\, luminous beach landscape while learning the fundamentals of pastel painting!\nKaren will guide you step by step\, beginning with a simple black-and-white study to help you see the landscape in clear shapes and values before moving into color. From there\, you’ll explore warm and cool color relationships\, build soft transitions in the sky\, sand\, and water\, and use layering and expressive marks to create texture and movement. \nAs your painting develops\, you’ll move from broad shapes into the details that make the landscape feel alive: from distant atmosphere to the directional strokes of foreground grasses. \nBy the end of the workshop\, you’ll leave with a finished coastal landscape\, new pastel techniques to take into your own work\, and a stronger understanding of how value and color can create mood and light! \nMaterials: You may bring your own\, or borrow CCAC supplies \n\nHard and soft pastels in a range of values and colors (NOT oil pastels).\nPencil/ eraser\nSanded pastel paper in a light color (cream or white) *There will be 9×12 sheets of U-Art paper available for $4.00 each if you need one.\n*Cheap set of watercolors\nWater dish\nOld\, large brush (1 inch) for underpainting\nBacking board for paper\, clips or tape to attach paper to board\nOld towel or washcloth for hands and wiping pastels clean\nSimple beach reference photo with sand and dune grasses (Karen will have some choices) Preferably black and white and a color copy if printed or on your phone so we can turn a color copy to black and white.\n\nREGISTER HERE!Karen Peck \nKaren Peck is a Carroll County artist and educator whose work explores the expressive color\, texture\, and immediacy of soft pastel. A lifelong creative\, Karen studied art education and spent her career teaching before turning more fully to her own studio practice. \nInspired by landscapes\, travel\, and the beauty found in everyday surroundings\, Karen paints as a way to slow down\, observe\, and connect more deeply with the world around her. Her work often captures meaningful places and memories\, balancing careful technique with a personal\, intuitive approach. \nFor Karen\, art is less about simply making an image and more about creating a sense of renewal\, peace\, and connection for both the artist and the viewer. \n \nYour Registration Makes an IMPACT!When you register for a class or workshop with the Carroll County Arts Council\, you’re doing more than signing up to create. Your registration helps us provide competitive and equitable compensation to local and regional teaching artists while creating welcoming\, high-quality opportunities for people across Carroll County to learn\, connect\, and explore their creativity! \nWant to help someone else participate?\nPay it forward!
