In this Introduction to Pastels workshop, artist Karen Peck will share a brief history of pastels and give members an opportunity to explore and compare examples of various types of pastels, papers, tools and other materials used in pastel painting. Karen invites members to paint along in a tutorial as she shares different techniques such as underpainting, color selection, layering and mark making.

If you do not have pastels and paper to bring, a small set of 64 pastels and a piece of black Canson Mi Teintes Pastel Paper can be ordered at the time of registration for $16.00. Other materials you may want to bring are: moist wipes, a smock or apron, a washcloth or rag, pencil, eraser. Table easels will be supplied.
